Nippon Steel, Sumitomo Metals and Kobe steel ltd. as the three largest steel mills in Japan are going to enlarge the investment, targeting to up crude steel capacity by 7 percent by 2012, according to Nikkei.

The investment will reach ￥250 billion. It will greatly increase the five furnaces capacities in Kimitsu steel mill which belongs to Nippon Steel.

Currently, there are 28 sets of blast furnaces in Japanese steel industry for crude steel production. Japanese crude steel production is expected to reach the historic highest peak this year.
