According to the report, Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI) announced support of the latest climate standard from the Global Steel Climate Council (GSCC) to evaluate and release the global standard of steel carbon emission.

The ISRI explained that the GSCC is the equitable way to balance the competitive environment for steel manufacturers while enabling recycled steel to meet decarbonization targets in the future.

The US is the leading country to produce low-carbon steel, with more than 70% of new steel produced by energy-efficient and lower-emission electric arc furnaces (EAFs).
