Baku Steel Company (BSC), the largest steel producer in the South Caucasus, has finished the first phase of a large modernization project at its Azerboru Production Area in Sumqayit city. This project was a major step in transforming Azerboru into a modern, export-focused facility.

Major upgrades included an overhaul of the TPA-250 hot rolling mill and new equipment for threading pipes and quality control. These enhancements doubled production capacity to 60,000 tons, enabled the manufacture of new pipe sizes of up to 245 mm in diameter and 20 mm in wall thickness, added new product classes, including the P110 class, as well as staff training for working with modern equipment.

BSC's strategic moves in the seamless steel pipe manufacturing sector included American Petroleum Institute (API) certification, opening doors to global markets such as the US, and technological modernization at its Baku steelmaking facility.

The project also addressed environmental impact with a new wastewater treatment plant, showing BSC's commitment to sustainable development and strengthening its regional and global market position.
