India's Shyam Metalics to set up wagon production plant in West Bengal

Indian metal producing company Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd. (Shyam Metalics) announced on May 19 that it will set up a wagon production plant in West Bengal with an annual capacity of 4,800 wagons. The project will be executed by Ramsarup Industries, its subsidiary in Kharagpur, Bengal.

Shyam Metalics stated that the plant will produce a variety of rolling stocks, including flat, open, box, covered, tank, and special wagons. 

The plant will be developed in two phases and adopt a "Uni-Flow" manufacturing layout in accordance with international standards to improve production efficiency.

This investment is a forward integration project of Shyam Metalics and is part of the established five-year capital expenditure plan. It is expected to start production in March next year.
