Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) and Jindal Renewable Power Private (JRPL) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate in developing green hydrogen production at JSPL's Angul plant in Odisha.

According to the MoU, JSPL will provide the necessary infrastructure and support, while JRPL will be responsible for the development and operation of green hydrogen and renewable energy facilities.

In the first phase, JRPL will develop a green hydrogen production capacity of up to 4,500 tons per year, which is expected to start in December 2025. In addition, JRPL will also provide 3GW of renewable energy to JSPL's Angul plant, which will reduce the steel plant's dependence on coal-fired energy by 50% in the next 2-3 years.

By integrating green energy and green hydrogen into the production process, JSPL not only reduces the carbon footprint but also sets a new benchmark for the Indian steel industry.
