According to the report, the Indian Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) had successfully produced the first hot-rolled coil from its Hot Strip Mill-2 last week.

The state of art new mill was expected to have 3 million tons of production capacity per year. The world-class mill would enable the company to gain more market shares and also enrich its product line.

With a high level of automation and the latest technology, the mill was capable of producing High Strength Low Alloy Steel, Carbon Structural Steel, High Carbon Steel, Low Alloy Steel, LPG Cylinder Steel, Auto-grade Steel, and API up to X100 Pipe Steel.

The mill also had a sheet shearing line with an annual capacity of 0.4 million tons for the production of hot-rolled sheets. The company had invested around INR 3,000 crore in the buildup of this mill.
