The Indian Kindler Steel and energy company (JSPL) is located at the Angul plant in Orissa, where the first blast furnace was ignited in Saturday. The blast furnace was for the Angul plant's first blast furnace, with molten iron annual capacity of 4 million tons.

After the new blast furnace is put into operation, the steelmaking capacity of Angul plant can be increased to 6 million tons, to increase JSPL's steel production capacity to 9.1 million tons.

Angul plant also plans to add an annual production capacity of 2.5 million tons of oxygen converter, but because the blast furnace ignition has delayed for 2 months, the converter production is also affected.
