It was reported that Indian Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) planned to spend Rs 5,500 crore and about 6 years to increase its copper production to 20 million tons yearly.

HCL was engaged in mining and copper smelting with many production facilities and offices located in India.

Its target was to expand production capacity by six times from present 3.6 million tons to 20 million tons per year by 2023 to 2024.
