According to India Government announced that the country planned to invest approximately US$154 million to implement of revitalization and modernization of Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant (VISL). Meanwhile, VISL was State-owned Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) subsidiary.

Meanwhile, VISL was one of the oldest mills in the country, the company produced alloy and special steels and pig iron. Its capacity including 77,000 tons of alloy special steels and 205,000 tons of pig iron.
