On July 17, 2025, the European Commission introduced a provisional anti-dumping (AD) duty on imports of fused alumina originating in China, with a duty rate ranging from 111.9% to 136.3%.

The investigation was launched based on a complaint submitted by Imerys S.A. on October 9, 2024, covering an investigation period for dumping and injury from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024, and an injury assessment period from January 1, 2021, to the end of the investigation period.

The regulation, now in force, addresses concerns regarding imports deemed to be unfairly priced. This action is to ensure fair competition within the European market.

The products involved are artificial corundum, whether or not chemically defined, also known as fused alumina, classified under CN codes 2818 10 11, 2818 10 19, ex 2818 10 91, and 2818 10 99 (TARIC codes 2818 10 91 20, 2818 10 91 90).
