A steel factory in Tangerang, Banten Province, Indonesia was ordered by the Ministry of Environment to stop production immediately due to the emission of large amounts of harmful smoke. The company involved is Power Steel Mandiri. Its steelmaking facility in the Cikupa Industrial Complex did not have a complete air pollution treatment system, causing black smoke to drift into residential areas, causing anxiety among residents. 

After a personal inspection, Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq pointed out that the factory's operating conditions did not meet safety standards and the exhaust gas it emitted could harm human health, so it must be shut down immediately for rectification. He criticized the factory for not installing even basic protective equipment, exposing the public to high-risk air. 

To improve the current situation, the government will provide necessary technical support to assist companies in introducing emission control equipment that complies with regulations. 

The forced shutdown also reflects the Indonesian government's increasingly stringent attitude towards industrial pollution control, requiring companies to face up to their environmental responsibilities and improve facility safety standards.
