Iron ore demand in China is currently still a bit slow as stock levels remain high. According to estimates from Indian exporters Chinese purchasers have around 40 million tons of iron ore stocks at the moment. The high stock level as well as the increase in the freight charge from India to China is currently making it difficult to secure sales. Freight prices are currently at around US$19 to 20/ton while iron ore prices are down by US$1 to 2/ton. The price of 63.5 percent Fe from Bellary Hospet is currently at around US$72/ton CRF China, 61 to 62 percent of Fe is at US$62/ton CRF China and 60 to 61 percent of Fe is at US$60/ton CRF China.
