The UK will maintain countervailing duties (CVD) on certain organic coated steel products from China, following a Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) review recommending extending the current CVD order from May 4, 2024, to May 4, 2029.

The TRA suggested maintaining existing CVD duty amounts due to an inability to recalculate the countervailing amount.

The duty rate ranges from 13.7% to 44.7% for different exporters, based on the net, free-at-the-frontier price. The duties will expire on May 4, 2029, unless a further review is initiated.

The products involved are organic coated steel products, such as flat-rolled non-alloy and alloy steel (excluding stainless steel) that's painted, varnished, or plastic-coated on at least one side. The scope excludes sandwich panels, products with a final zinc-dust coating (70% or more zinc by weight), and those with a chromium or tin metallic substrate coating. They are under HS codes 72 10 70 80 11, 72 12 40 80 21, 72 25 99 00 91, 72 10 70 80 91, 72 12 40 80 82, 72 26 99 70 11, 72 12 40 80 01, 72 25 99 00 11, and 72 26 99 70 91.
