According to media report that the steel mills in China’s largest steel production province, Hebei with famous Hebei Iron and Steel (HBIS) located, has cut the steel production output in the month of May to 16.11 million tons, dropping by 2.4% year on year.

However, on the other hand, the steel production output in southern province, Jiangsu on the eastern coast of China has experienced output hike by 12.5% to 44.93 million tons for the first 5 months in 2015.

Crude steel output from Hebei province in the first four months of 2015 totaled 83.28 million tons, which is 0.3% drop compared with the same period of time last year.

As one of the pollution sources, China's government has planned to slash the country's steel production capacity by 80 million tons over the 2015-2017 period, and many small mills in Hebei province will be focused on to be cut.
