It is reported that China’s Guangxi Beibu Gulf Iron & Steel Investment Co Ltd has invested around US$1.4 billion in a steel mill in the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP), the first Malaysia-China project in Malaysia.

The steel plant will produce high-carbon steel and H-shape steel, with annual capacity of 3.5 million tons.

The infrastructure development in MCKIP, undertaken by the government via Ecer Development Council (ECERDC) is progressing well, East Coast Economic Region (Ecer) chief executive officer Datuk Jebasingam Issace John said.
