Century Aluminum Sebree is starting two expansion programs at its Sebree, Kentucky, smelter. This expansion was expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2019, with a purpose to push up the production of value-added and secondary aluminum.

This new expansion indicated the positive future of US aluminum industry under Trump's tariff policies. After the expansion, the project will increase by approximately 90,000 tons of additional billet production to the Sebree casthouse and push up the smelter’s total production output by increasing 20,000 tons of additional secondary capacity.

Sebree will recruit around 50 new employees, and it will produce approximately 230,000 tons of aluminum in 2019.
