It is reported that Bharat Aluminium Co, is a leading private manufacturer in India, announced that it planned to close its Korba mill, mainly due to the decline in metal prices and the impact of the imports from China.

People who are familiar with the matter said Vedanta's alumina plant which located in Lanjigarh had been struggled to find bauxite as main raw materials, or will face the same fate.

Pati Abhijit, head of Vedanta's aluminum business, said the company's hard decision to shut down the mill has been made last week. In such an environment, it is worrying to see the decline in the price of aluminum. Government's intervention to protect domestic industry will be needed. This closure affected 700 direct and indirect jobs.
