Reportedly, the severely cold winter had caused the tight supply of scrap in global market; accordingly, the scrap prices have been pushed up.

At present, the purchase prices of the US vessel scrap HMS 1&2 (80:20) to South East Asian market has soared to US$480/ton C&F. Furthermore, traders indicated that it may rise to US$500/ton C&F.

For the prices of container scrap, the prices of US HMS scrap 1&2 (80:20) to Taiwan’s market has been up to US$450/ton C&F. As the US ocean freight rate may rise in the middle of next January, dealers predicted that the prices would have chance to jump to US$460/ton C&F.
