Patin (Nippon Steel’s branch) and SJ Steel (JFE Steels’ branch) in China has been back to production and the output is predicted to be recovered by 80 percent in April.

They import tinplate base material from Japan and produce tinplate for food industry mostly. The most powerful competitor in China is Baosteel which is currently offering lower price for the market.

It is predicted that demand and price in tinplate will keep growing and their production will be fully recovered in the third quarter. In china’ market, tinplate benchmark price has remained increasing since last December and is at US$470/ton.
