It’s reported that the prices of Al-killed wire rod with diameters above 13mm have declined slightly in Taiwanese market.

In fact, the transaction prices of large-size Al-killed wire rod had ever surged to NT$29,800/ton in the first half of 2011, driven by strong demand from Taiwanese auto-use nut and hand tool industries, which had good performance in export markets.

Moreover, the transaction prices of large-size Al-killed wire rod have remained firm in Taiwanese market even though the Taiwanese auto-use nut and hand tool industries received few orders in export markets after last July. It dropped to NT$26,500/ton until Taiwanese China Steel Corp. (CSC) announced to cut the list prices by NT$2,000/ton for January and February deliveries.

Though the transaction prices of large-size Al-killed wire rod have dropped by NT$3,000~NT$3,300/ton from the peak of NT$29,800/ton, its market demand is still better than the small-size wire rod.

Industry sources said that the demand for large-size Al-killed wire rod remained stable as it was difficult to be substituted by other materials and the recession of Taiwanese auto-use nut and hand tool industries was not that serious.
