Following the recent military conflict between China and India, India’s JSW Group decided to reduce its current imports from China to zero in the next two years in response to a boycott of Chinese goods. The group currently had a net import of US$400 million per year from China, which mainly imported clinker to supply its grinding business.

Parth Jindal, managing director of JSW Group, expressed that China’s unprovoked attack on India’s territory was a major warning and a clarion call for action.

However, according to reports that announced by Joint Factory Committee (JPC), an institution empowered by the India’s Ministry of Steel, China was the main export destination of India’s steel during April-May this year, and China accounted for 48% of India's finished steel exports.
