Following the move by AK Steel Corps, Allegheny Ludlum Corp will raise electrical steel surcharge to US$340 per ton for December shipments. The current surcharge is US$315 per ton. The only two US electrical steel suppliers, AK Steel and Ludlum, have received strong demand in the past one and a half years due to the strong consumption from power generation and transmission infrastructure. The current price of electrical steel is around US$3, 000 per ton. (Nov. 22)
