Vale S.A. (Vale), a Brazilian multinational corporation engaged in metals and mining, said yesterday (March 7) that heavy rains have caused a landslide in the Estrada de Ferro de Carajás (EFC) railway at KM378+200 stretch, which also temporarily interrupted the railway transportation.

The Mine and port are operating normally through inventory management. This incident didn’t cause any casualties and had little impact on Vale’s production guidance of 320-335 million tons for this year, while the situation in the affected area is being evaluated.

Vale expected to complete the maintenance of the affected railway stretch and resume operations by this Wednesday (March 9).
