US reports m-o-m, y-o-y decrease in HRC imports in Feb

According to preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), US hot-rolled coil (HRC) imports decreased to around 136,200 tons in February, a 15% drop from the previous month and a slight 0.44% decrease from the same month a year ago.

Canada was the top supplier with around 59,100 tons, down by 46% month on month but rising by 14% year on year. South Korea ranked second with 43,000 tons, followed by Japan’s 17,400 tons.

The value of these imports totaled roughly US$102 million in February, down by 19% from the preceding month and by 16% from the prior-year period.
