Recently, the London Metal Exchange (LME) zinc futures price exceeded the US$3,000/ton mark, and the accumulation has increased by 14% since the beginning of this year. Benefiting from rising zinc prices, Taiwan Steel Union (TSU), which manufactures and trades in zinc oxide and non-metallic mineral products in Taiwan, said that its zinc oxide shipments in the first four months of this year totaled nearly 19,000 tons, growing by 31.8% from the same period a year ago.

Meanwhile, its consolidated revenue was about NT$725 million, a year-on-year increase of 20.31%. The profit before tax totaled about NT$290 million, climbing by 36% year on year.

As the zinc price rises, TSU’s zinc oxide revenue is expected to increase accordingly. Coupled with the gradual increase in the amount of waste processing, the operational performance was forecasted to be optimistic in the future.
