Posco opened their new automotive steel sheet processing center in Thailand at the end of last week. The South Korean company, the fifth largest steelmaker in the world, opened the POS-TPC plant in about 140 km southwest of Bangkok in Amata City Rayong Industrial Park. The automobile plate mill has an annual processing capacity of 120, 000 tons per year and this is expected to be expanded to 200, 000 tons per year to help meet the growing global demand. This is the second processing unit of POS-Thai Steel Service Center Co, Posco’s affiliate. The plant will supply products for the local market and nearby countries. Posco has automobile plates processing and machining mills in China, Japan and Thailand. (Jan. 23)
