Nucor's Sedalia micro rebar mill, located approximately 90 miles away from the east of Kansas City, Missouri, was expected to be opened in November and whose annual production capacity will be increased by 450,000 tons.

According to documents submitted by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources in September 2018, the mill would install an electric arc furnace and a crusher with an annual capacity of 180,000 tons to produce rebar.

The US$400 million steel mill was still under construction but would be ready for production. The company planned to employ 250 workers, and currently more than half of the workforce has been hired and trained in steel mills in Alabama, Mississippi and Texas.
