The national standard GB/T 20878-2024 "Stainless Steel Grades and Chemical Compositions", led by China Metallurgical Information and Standardization Institute and revised by TISCO for the second draft, was officially released on July 24, 2024, and will be implemented on February 1, 2025.

This national standard is to guide the formulation and revision of standards for stainless steel products, including steel ingots and semi-finished products.

In the revision of the national standard this time, 213 stainless steel grades were included, 97 new grades were added, the chemical composition of 8 grades was adjusted, and 23 grades were deleted.

The release of this national standard is important for guiding China’s future development of stainless steel standards.
