Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, has partnered with Outokumpu to procure stainless steel with a carbon footprint up to 93% lower than the global industry average for its Metropolis metro trains. The first delivery of Outokumpu's Circle Green® stainless steel is expected in 2026 and will be used in Alstom's newest Metropolis metro trains.

This collaboration is in line with Alstom's goal to reduce carbon emissions from purchased goods and services by 30% by 2030, enhancing the eco-design of their metro cars.

Véronique Andriès, Alstom's Sustainability and CSR Vice President, said that using this low-emission steel significantly contributes to their CO2 reduction efforts, addressing the growing demand for sustainable urban transport.
