It was reported that Liberty has announced plans to acquire ArcelorMittal Galati Steel in Romania, which will invest US$373 million over the next 3-5 years and re-produce automotive steel for Romanian automotive industry, such as Craiova Ford and Pitti Reynolds.

Galati Steel has two idle blast furnaces. This investment may restart one of them, and the other is still under evaluation or electric furnace will be installed to produce with scrap steel, which will benefit green steel production project.

Galati Steel's annual capacity of crude steel is 3 million tons, mainly producing plate, cold-rolled and hot-rolled coil, and hot-dip galvanized coil, having 6 production lines in Romania.
