JSW Steel received the Indian government’s permission to import low ash metallurgical coke (metcoke) from Indonesia, which has exceeded the quantity restrictions imposed by the government earlier this year. By this permission, JSW is able to import 106,000 tons of metcoke from Indonesia which is over the quota allowed to be imported.

In the first half of this year, the overall quantitative restriction for metcoke is 1.44 million tons, according to the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR). The total quantity that is allowed to be imported to India from Indonesia is 33,182 tons per quarter and 66,364 tons for the first half of 2025.

JSW Steel received permission to switch its import quota to Indonesia after the original country became an unviable source.
