Indonesia, the world’s largest nickel producer, is planning to limit nickel ore production in response to oversupply, aiming to stabilize global prices. This move is designed to protect the nation's economy and preserve its valuable nickel resources.

With more than half of the world's nickel reserves, Indonesia plays a central role in the global market. According to Tri Winarno, a senior official at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the current oversupply has contributed to price fluctuations. Various factors, including global economic conditions, demand variations, and supply chain disruptions, have affected pricing, particularly in sectors like stainless steel and batteries.

Although the specifics of the production limits are still under discussion, Indonesia is focused on finding a balance in the market. In addition, the country has made substantial investments in its nickel processing sector, which has created jobs and added value to the industry.

By regulating production, Indonesia aims to stabilize prices and maintain its influential position in the global nickel market, while continuing to grow its downstream sector.
