It’s reported that Indian JSW Steel planned to increase its iron ore imports by 80% to 900,000 tons per year due to tight supply in the domestic market and lower global iron ore prices.

The company planned to import 5 million tons of iron ore per year in order to supply to its two works, Salem and Dolvi.

The combined production of Salem and Dolvi works totaled 4.3 million tons, accounting for 30% of JSW Steel’s total output of 14.30 million tons.

JSW Steel is currently purchasing the raw materials from Australia and South American countries as the company has imported around 1.7 million tons of iron ore during April to September.
