According to the International Molybdenum Association (IMOA) data, the global consumption of molybdenum in April-June reached around 150 million pounds, up by 6% quarter on quarter, and the molybdenum output reached around 137 million pounds, up by 1% quarter on quarter.

The molybdenum consumption in China increased by 13% to 54 million pounds quarter on quarter; that in Europe increased by 2% to 37 million pounds roughly quarter on quarter; that in the US increased by 4% to 15.4 million pounds quarter on quarter; that in Japan increased by 4% to 15 million pounds roughly quarter on quarter.

The molybdenum output in China increased by 7% to 50 million pounds quarter on quarter; that in South Africa fell by 4% to 46 million pounds quarter on quarter; that in the US fell by 1% to 32 million pounds quarter on quarter; that in other countries totaled around 10 million pounds.

Based on the above data, the global supply of molybdenum from April to June was 12.3 million pounds short.
