According to media report, in an effort to restore and turn around the economy, French industry minister is thinking in discussion with ArcelorMittal's management on strategy and the future of the Florange steel plant.

It’s known that the Florange steel plant which used to produce steel slabs, coils and plated sheets was being determined to close down in 2002, before Mittal Steel took over Arcelor SA in 2006.

It is said that the industrial prospects for ArcelorMittal's idled steel plant in eastern France still looks bright as it is located near car manufacturers and produces value added products.

Also, it is reported ArcelorMittal will keep the furnaces at its Florange plant in eastern France shut until at least the end of the year due to continuing weak demand in Europe.
