The European Commission (EC) has recently published a clear Implementing Regulation for the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). The CBAM transitional period is from October 1, 2023 to December 31, 2025, and formal measures will be implemented in 2026.

The EC is still establishing the registration procedure for the transitional period of the CBAM while developing more information technology (IT) tools and some materials to support businesses after the transitional period begins.

The EC indicated that the report should be submitted before January 31 next year for goods imported in the fourth quarter.
