According to the report, the European Union (EU) has conducted the limitation of safeguard investigations on imports of 23 items steel products, which must be levied a 25% tariff if exceeding the import quota in past three years.

The import quota of steel products mainly included carbon steel hot-rolled products, carbon steel cold-rolled products, hot-dip galvanized steel products, color-coated steel plates, stainless steel hot-rolled products and stainless steel cold-rolled products, accounting for 4.27 million tons, 1.32 million tons, 2.12 million tons, 410,000 tons, 193,000 tons and 476,000 tons, respectively.

Some market participants indicated that the EU implemented the temporary safeguard measures to the global industry instead of single country. Some mills expressed that steel products sold to the EU were lower than the expected volume and currently the performance of hot-dip galvanized steel products sold to the EU was better. Therefore, they believed that mills didn't need to concern about it.
