Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) and PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for using EGA's technology license to co-work to upgrading an existing Inalum smelter and develop a new aluminum smelter in Indonesia.

Based on the MoU, the two firms will aim to set a JV unit to develop a greenfield aluminum smelter in Indonesia, including technology services, raw materials' supply, and the metal marketing.

Before this MoU, EGA and Inalum have already signed another MoU in 2018 and have cooperation on the potential brownfield upgrade in North Sumatra.
