A member of the European Central Bank's Governing Council emphasized the need for action to prevent monetary policy from becoming overly restrictive.

The member suggested two rate cuts before the summer of August and two more times before the end of this year. Besides, the member expressed concern over the euro area's economic growth, noting it was weaker than anticipated. Additionally, he highlighted a significant decrease in inflation, representing balanced risks.

The ECB left policy unchanged, citing June as a potential start for easing, and they have the confidence to aim for 2% inflation.
