A.G. Siderurgica Balboa selected Danieli Technologies to remodel two reheating furnaces in order to accelerate energy efficiency and pollution reduction. These furnaces cater to the section mill and the flexible bar, wire rod, and light section mill, operating at the Jerez de los Caballeros plant in Spain's Extremadura region. Originally supplied by Danieli between 2005 and 2007, these mills will undergo significant upgrades to reduce their CO2 footprint by up to 10%.

The key to achieving this reduction lies in the installation of Danieli Centro Combustion's innovative HydroMAB flameless burners, designed to not only decrease natural gas consumption but also mitigate NOx emissions. Additionally, the HydroMAB burners are hydrogen-ready, positioning Siderurgica Balboa to seamlessly transition to hydrogen usage when it becomes available.

The upgrade encompasses the implementation of new Danieli Automation Level 1 and process control systems, integrating the RHF optimization model and enhancing the roof lining for improved performance. The upgrade project is set to conclude by the end of 2024.
