According to the statement from Chilean Finance Minister Mario Marcel, Chile set the goal to put three to four new lithium projects into operation by 2026. Last year, the government announced an increase in the state's control of strategically important metal, which will be applied to electric vehicle batteries.

Chile's copper and lithium production were ranked first and second in the world, respectively. However, the country currently only has two lithium producers, Albemarle and SQM. Chile is looking for public-private partnerships to develop lithium mines.
