BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) will become the first Australian operations at BHP to run entirely on renewable energy, following a new power purchase agreement (PPA) for its Queensland operations. The seven-year PPA, starting from the fiscal year 2027, is the third agreement with Queensland's CleanCo and will supply all of BMA's forecasted electricity needs from solar, wind, and pumped hydro sources.

Combined with a 2023 renewable PPA with CleanCo, this new agreement will ensure that BMA's Queensland assets meet 100% of their operational electricity demand through renewable sources from 2027. The PPA supports four renewable projects in regional Queensland.

BHP President Australia, Geraldine Slattery, emphasized the significance of the agreement in advancing BHP's goal of reducing operational emissions by 30% by the fiscal year of 2030.
