Ball Corporation, a provider of metal packaging in the US, planned to close Rexam Beverage Can Company, an aluminum can manufacturing plant in Kent.

Dan Fisher, CEO of Ball, said that the closure was expected to save costs by US$20-30 million in 2024, some of which would be slightly offset by additional freight costs.

The closure was estimated to affect 121 employees, and layoffs would begin on February 29.

The company said that its canned product sales were impacted last year as some customers boycotted Bud Light, which led to lower sales of the brand.
