It's reported that after Japan shut down several coal fire plants, the Australian thermal coal prices have continued declining last week.

It’s known that two Japan's largest utilities, Tokyo Electric Power and Tohoku Electric made official force majeure on some coal deliveries.

Furthermore, it has been seen that more and more coal fired plants would also announce the force majeure.

As results, the cargoes grounded by the quake were expected being placed either through domestic swap or delivered to other countries such as South Korea, Taiwan, and China.

Meanwhile, the thermal coal on the global COAL Newcastle index for the current week was AUD 125.39/ton, down from AUD 129.87/ton a week earlier.
