Mr. Gerald McCloskey, the president of McCloskey Group indicated that the shortage of coking coal caused by Australia’s serious floods might limit the crude steel production in 2011.

So far, the supply of coking coal has reduced by 15 million tons because of the floods; furthermore, it has been seen that the floods in February would brought more severe problems to mining companies.

Meanwhile, even the mining companies from Canada, the US and Mongolia have tried to supply the coking coal to compensate the shortage; however, as the quality of coking coals from those country are lower relatively, those products can’t satisfy the current strong demand.
