It was reported by the Argentine Production Minister last Friday (August 31st) that the Argentine and Brazilian governments had achieved common technical specifications for their respective automotive industries.

Part of Brazilian vehicles currently still had technical diversities so that could not be fully sold in Argentina. The agreement would be a permission between both manufacturers to flexibly adjust their policies and configuration based on market demands and volumes of vehicles sold in both countries.

This latest regulations covered emissions and fuel efficiency issues, and it was expected to be completed within two years, while the technical team will develop guidelines for safety-related issues within 180 days.

According to this agreement, The export increased between Argentina and Brazil not only supported the two sides to frame additional auto trade but will be able to enhance the steel consumption as well.

Brazil was the most critical overseas market for the Argentine Auto Industry. The data showed Argentina exported roughly 101,000 vehicles to Brazil with an increase of about 35,000 vehicles within the first seven months of 2018. Analysis also showed car consumption in Argentina truly relied upon the Brazilian industry. The eight of the top ten best-selling cars in Argentina from January to July were from Brazil.
