As Karnataka government announced an 80% additional tax on NMDC Limited, the company decided to suspend production at Donimalai iron ore mine.

In future, iron ore supply and demand in India was expected to be tightened. For this sake, JSW Steel launched emergency measures to speed up procurement with Odisha and overseas suppliers, and increase the production of its own mines.

It was understood that JSW's Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka had an annual capacity of 12 million tons, and its demand per year for iron ore was 20 million tons, of which 5 million tons came from Donimalai mine of NMDC.

At present, one iron ore mine owned by JSW Steel in Karnataka had an annual capacity of about 700,000 tons, then two mines of the company will be put into production, and annual capacity of self-operated mines will increase by 2 million tons.
