Taiwan stainless steel mills might raise price in February

28 Jan 2008 13:13 reported by Claude Tseng

A A A
Taiwan’s stainless steel mills, such as Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco) and Tang Eng Iron Works ,will announce new list price this week.

In spite of the weak nickel price on LME, the average price of January was still higher than it in December. As result, the new price is very likely to increase.

Nickel price increased to US$30,000/ton and then remained stable at US$28,000/ton for a while. Originally, mills intend to raise the price by NT$5,000~6,000/ton. However, since the price dropped last week, mills might increase the price by NT$2,000~3,000/ton.
