The first Evolution Series ES43ACi diesel locomotive for Guinea's 600 km TransGuinéen Railway was revealed at Wabtec's factory in India. This multi-user railway will connect Port Moribaya to Forécariah, Kassa, Nialinko, and the Simandou region, enabling the exploitation of high-grade deposits.
The project is developed by a joint venture of Guinea's government, Winning Consortium Simandou, and Rio Tinto Simfer. Rio Tinto Simfer's US$277 million locomotive features a 4,500 hp US-built engine optimized for fuel efficiency and high-heat performance. Rio Tinto emphasized the railway's critical role in exporting iron ore globally while creating local opportunities.
