Nucor Tubular Products, a US carbon steel pipe and tubing producer, announced that it has purchased advanced steel pipe cut-off machines from French industrial equipment manufacturer Fives Group and plans to deploy them in its two US plants. The equipment will be installed in Marseilles, Illinois, and Decatur, Alabama, to support local expansion and upgrade projects.

The equipment at the Marseilles plant will produce larger-sized structural steel pipes. This machine can cut steel pipes with a maximum diameter of 406.4 mm and a wall thickness of 16 mm, with a cutting speed of up to 61 meters per minute. 

On the other hand, the equipment renewal of the Decatur plant is an enhancement of the existing steel rolling production line. The cutting machine used is similar to that of the Marseilles plant, but the processing diameter is further expanded to 508 mm.

This collaboration reflects Nucor's continued investment in advanced technologies to address the growing demand for high-performance steels.
